The device went of line for the first time today since i shrouded the UV sensor i think it knew i was looking as it as it started to display data after a stern look






I think I might thin the uv shroud height down a little as the graph indicates a UV peak around midday when the sun is directly overhead and the sudden jump is what i would expect given the narrow field of input ||| opposed to \||/ possibly a wider diameter as well

Ah, that's not a full Pod lockup then, if its processor "crashes" or "hangs" then AFAIK it never starts again (without user intervention).

The station only reports INTEGER values for UV, so it was basically 1 for most of the day, reaching 2 for just a short period. I suggest using a much more moderate filter. There was a thread a year or two ago with some other suggestions, perhaps it can be found using "3081" as a search item. But do bear in mind that "transparency" to UV can be very different than for visible light. For example, window glass is usually opaque to UV (or at least the wavelengths concerned with serious skin damage).

BTW, have you set your longitude correctly and/or is the (PC) clock running on GMT? It also looks as if you should calibrate the Cumulus Lux to W/m2 conversion value by about +25% (as I needed to for mine). EDIT: You also appear to be using a 30 minute logging interval; 5 minutes is more typical, or perhaps 15 minutes if you can/do download only every few weeks.

Interestingly, your Lux curve also appears to have "shoulders" (at ~100 W/m2) rather similar to mine.

You must be a lucky lot, I have followed all the above suggestions and I still can't get a UV reading above 1

Is that with an unmodified WH3080/1 ? So it basically displays UV = '0' overnight, etc. and '1' on the Console (with Lux in the 10ks) when the Pod is outdoors in bright sunlight?

That sounds plain faulty to me, even for the UK.

as i was in the process of trying to fix the lockups i wasn`t overly accurate in the orientation and i think the device is on GMT not BST
But it's all a work in progress

i will say it hasn`t locked up more than the once i mentioned since i put a collar round the UV sensor

The highest reading since then has been 3 but given the day
i would have expected it to be a lot higher
I have seen it go up to the max without the collar, but lots of lockups

This would seem to point to the UV sensor being overloaded causes the lockups and attenuating its field of view helps

i haven't played with it for a couple of days as i have been setting up my reporting site

Was working perfect, it is the Nevada version of the 3081 that I have, never had a problem with the high UV for example UV12,
I think it has just given up the ghost, the Solar reading side of things is still going great guns, have to save a bit out of the old pension to buy a new unit
