Re: New real-time display
Not really sure what the issue is...
The new tool uses Silverlight. That is what it is being developed in.
If your visitors want to "see" it, they will need Silverlight to do so. Just like you need Flash to see Flash, JavaScript to see Ajax etc... Its their choice.
You can of course choose to not use it on your website that's up to the website owner. There are a number of things that I don't use on my websites... my choice.
Will I use this new tool... don't know yet. Kinda seeing where it is heading...
I wish I had the time to play doing something like it in Sliverlight or Flash... nice to see someone building and offering new tools.
Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Agreed, the beteljuice was just saying "On no - not another plug-in war".

Re: New real-time display
Maybe Adobe needed a bit of competition.
Anyway, I have very good (to me) reasons for using Silverlight rather than Flash or anything else. I'm just doing it for fun, and if others want to use it that's fine. Those that don't, fine also. I can't believe we're actually having this discussion in the first place. Can we draw a line under the Microsoft bashing now, and discuss Cumulus and its addons?

Re: New real-time display
I like it. (Actually, I was referring to Steve's Silverlight gauges, but come to think of it, I like Steve's last comment, too!)
Looking forward to its general availability.

Re: New real-time display
I was just getting ready to make it available in its current form (I've made the realtime.txt location and the update interval configurable, and made it so it adjusts to the units in the realtime.txt file) when I noticed that it seems to stop updating after a few minutes. So I need to investigate that.garytx wrote:Looking forward to its general availability.

Re: New real-time display
I really like the new display. Good choice of layout and nice colors. Perhaps just a slightly larger font size would make it easier to read. Great job Steve!

Re: New real-time display
Hi Steve, wow impressed with new real time display, I must at sometime installed silverlight so loaded no problem just wondered why the last guage a different colour or just seeing how it looked?
My own problem for for the live data is it seems to time out a lot if I set the update anything to less than 25 seconds so don't really look at it that much but thats another problem...
BIG thumbs up for the new screen.
Will it have the menu option's on the screen or do you use your browers back button not sure if this is the finished version look so will await your comment's...
Great work once again Steve...

Re: New real-time display
The third gauge is different colour because the other two are speeds, and that one is direction. I'm still experimenting, really. I have a few issues to resolve before I can release it even in the current form, but hopefully once that's sorted I can go on and develop it a bit. I'm thinking graphs of some sort next - it's not too hard to see where the inspiration for all this came from...

Re: New real-time display
Yep.... still looks very good though and the thing I like is I don't have to scroll down the page to see it all...
