New real-time display

Post by steve »

I thought I'd give you a preview of something I've started working on:

http://sanday.org.uk/weather/test/TestPage.html

Edit: Now here.

It should update every five seconds, but bear in mind that I power down overnight, and will be doing so not long after I post this. It needs a lot more work, but hopefully it gives an indication of what I'm aiming for.

Comments/complaints/suggestions welcome, as always.

I liked it! Really beauties.. Actually I want to have them on their own monitor on the wall:-)
But, I would prefer to have todays min/max temp also, in addition to the rest.
In general I wonder with such clocks. Would it be possible to make them like that the scale starts from 0-20 (m/s), and if the wind exeeds this, the scale changes to 0-30 and so on? And there is a constant reducten in the windspeed, the scale goes back to 0-20 again?
Just a thought...

The blue and red markers on the temp gauge are today's min and max.

Yes, I'm hoping to do this.

It would seem I'm the only one who refuses to download M$ 'Silverlight'

As beteljiuce says.. I'm sure they look good, but not everyone wants to use Microshite Silverlight, I don't, and I suspect it will simply restrict viewers in the same way that the flash dials and to a certain extent Java does.
In principle, people looking at weather siotes... want to see weather info!

It's an additional/alternative/optional way of viewing the weather data. No-one is being forced to host it or view it. Those who don't like it have my permission to ignore it

First rate as usual Steve, looking forward to using them.

I am with you if people don't like using something, look elsewhere.

You are NOT alone! I installed Silverlight to look at Steve's (admittedly very pretty) gauges, and then uninstalled it again. ;)
