I did a search and tried to fine the best spot to have the outdoor sensor located for example is it best to install the sensor 1 foot of the ground or is it better to have it up higheer to get the best readings.

Thank you in advance for taking time to read this and help me with an answer.

1 foot seems rather low, but with the poor supplied FO "sunshield" the first critereon for the location is "always out of direct sunlight".

Then, with the known (un)reliability issues of many FO stations, the next critereon is probably "easily accessible".

This is my biggest problem at the moment....have been working for 2 weeks to get my weather station back up and running. Spent about 5 hours yesterday setting it up, and repositioning it, only to find this morning between 9:30am and 10:10am that the new position of the sensor is in direct sunlight and shot up to 19C (usually at work at this time, so not been able to see before)....now the sun has moved round it's back to where it should be at 13C.

I originally had the sensor about 3m above ground where the wind instruments were, but bought an extension lead to move it to just under 1m off the ground.

So I am now going to spend today, repositioning the whole lot again to the other side of the garden.....which involves taking down my old weather station gear, and swapping with the new equipment, and finding somehow to put the rain gauge on the shed....not sure how I will mount the sensors yet. The shed is quite new, so don't fancy driling holes in it

Best place for my FO is in the rubbish bin. Blinking thing has lost contact again today and given all sorts of incorrect data. VP2 is on order but while I wait this one is driving me nuts. I have done all sorts of mods suggested on here to improve Tx & Rx. I have taken all the plugs and sockets off and hard wired all the cables to the pcb's as they had corroded after just a year. When it does work it is great but when it send faulty data it s a PITA. I really wanted to keep it running along side the new station so I can compare and see how much more accurate the Davis station is (see if it was worth spending my wifes birthday money)
