Blank Web Pages

Post by apple8 »

I think I need some help.

When I access my site I get blank weather pages except for NOAA reports. The HTM files on the website are showing zero bytes as are the HTML files in the Web folder on the PC. I have checked the ftp log and that looks ok. That is about as far as my smarts goes, so any suggestions will be appreciated.

I found that the html "T" files were missing from Web folder. updated cumulus and data was in files again. For a while I could access pages through by using ftp in front of web address but not without it. Now I am getting FTP errors and not uploading at all. ftplog shows that it is trying to connect to a different IP address than it was earlier.

Assuming the ftp errors are connection failures, it sounds like perhaps your web host has done some DNS changes.

Yes, I cannot even get to the home page anymore. They (Glovine) changed the DNS a few weeks ago and it hasn't been right since with out of date pages etc. I am in the process of temporarily moving the weather over to my ISP's users webspace.

I am now find that I can only upload data that will show on the site if I use Web Update and do not prefix the host name with ftp. in the configuration panel.

Does not appear to attempt any auto update (yes, it is ticked) so I am still stuck. If these give any clues it may help if anyone can point me in the right direction.

What's the actual host name? blazingcomet.com? I use Google for DNS, and the version with 'ftp' resolves to the same IP address as the version without for me:

C:\Users\steve>nslookup blazingcomet.com
Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com
Address: 8.8.8.8

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: blazingcomet.com
Address: 119.252.189.51

Your web site is showing zero for all readings, so Cumulus is presumably not getting any data from the station, which is why it hasn't enabled auto-updates. If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll see if I can determine the cause.

Your Now, Gauges and Yesterday show 0
Trends graphs shows nothing except for Temp and Rain
NOAA style has nothing after Sep 17

Your Today shows data, as does This Month, This Year and Records but these are likely from before your problem.

Paul
Edit to add Yesterday shows 0 data

Your web site is showing zero for all readings, so Cumulus is presumably not getting any data from the station, which is why it hasn't enabled auto-updates.
I was not aware of that, I had the data uploading to my ISP user webspace from another PC, thinking that Cumulus would upload zero data to Blazingcomet.com in the interim.
It is now uploading when reconnected depending on whether I use the ftp. prefix or not.

As can be seen above the when using the ftp. prefix it goes to a different address and there is no update on the weather website when using auto DNS.

One hour later the above addresses swapped now it uploads with the ftp. prefix and not without :bash:

You're getting the correct address from Google DNS for ftp.blazingcomet.com, but when you use your router's DNS you're getting a different (and presumably incorrect) address. So it looks like it's your router's DNS that's at fault. - caching an out of date address, perhaps.
