Cumulus Support

Hi,

Cumulus is reading the data just fine, but I'm having some issues with my system not updating to my wunderground.com listing. Here's the link:

In Cumulus under the Weather Underground tab, I have a tick in the boxes for:
- Enabled
- Rapid Fire
- Catch Up

I have my StationID and my password in correctly, with an Interval of 10 mins.

I turn off my computer everyday, and Cumulus has not been updating Weather Underground for a few months.

What have I missed?

You're getting a 'page not found' error. This is most likely either a DNS problem or a problem at WU with your page. But if I use your WU update URL, I do get an 'incorrect password' response from WU, as you would expect. So I think the most likely cause is that your system is failing to resolve the name rtupdate.wunderground.com or is resolving it incorrectly.

What do you get if you type 'nslookup rtupdate.wunderground.com' at a command prompt?

Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com
Address: 8.8.8.8

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: rtupdate.wunderground.com

After doing that command prompt I get:

Server: home.gateway
Address: 192.168.1.254

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: rtupdate.wunderground.com
Address:38.102.136.125

That's the right address, so WU (or a proxy between you and WU) is returning the 404. You could try turning off rapid fire and see if it makes any difference (the URL is different).

Thanks for the suggestion, Steve. I've tried that, and it still isn't updating.

Should I try setting up a new weather station at WU and see if that works?

If you turn the debug log back and wait a few minutes, then look in the debug.log file for the WU update URL, and copy the entire URL to the address bar. Replace your password, and send it, and see what happens.

You could try that; it may be a problem with your station at WU. I can't see anything wrong with the update that Cumulus is generating.

I tried that, and got this message:

"Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at rtupdate.wunderground.com."

Could it be a networking issue somewhere?

I tried setting up a new weather station at WU, but couldn't get it to work either.

Then yes, I would say you have a networking issue somewhere. If you want to send me your WU password by private message, I can try doing some updates from here, which would confirm that, if it works for me.

Just a quick update ...

Yesterday I reset my modem to factory default settings and then set it all up again and it worked immediately. I can now update to Wunderground.com and everything is working well.

So if you're having problems with uploading data to Weather Underground try resetting your modem / router.
