After running CP210x_VCP_Win_XP_S2K3_Vista_7.exe My Windows 7 Home Premium re-boots after a few minutes of activity. Com port doesn't show up either.
Help! Any suggestions?
Cheers

Are you using the latest one from the Silicon Labs site?

Yes - but am slightly confused as there are two packages - one marked VCP driver kit and another just below marked USB driver installation - do I need both I wonder?

I'm pretty sure you just need the one you've installed. Had you installed Weatherlink and got it going with that - in serial mode?

I initially installed it in USB mode - as I thought it wouldn't work in serial out of the box? Even more confused now!

Whenever I've installed Weatherlink, it has given me the option of serial or USB, with the usual warnings about not being able to use third-party software if I choose USB.

I have temporarily uninstalled all the Davis s/ware and removed Cumulus (backed up elsewhere)
The computer I'm installing on already has one serial COM port - unused - and I also run some specialist software which uses a USB token for access, and a SKy2 card for data acquisition from a satellite. I am wondering if there is some kind of compatability issues?
The CP2X10 tells me it has installed correctly, but in device manager and ports there is only the hardware COM port showing up. Any thoughts?
Cheers

Do you have the station connected? I'm not sure virtual COM port would show up otherwise.

THANK YOU!! Why isn't that written somewhere!!
I now have it working! And it is talking to Cumulus fine.
I will re-enable other software to make sure there isn't some other issue. If I need to run the weatherlink software - do I now run it in serial port mode?
Huge thanks Steve.

Yes. Don't allow WL to set the logger back to USB mode.
