changing weather stations and moving from imperial to metric

Here's a tester!
I've ordered a Davis Vantage Vue, but when I install the new station (as opposed to my current Fine Offset) I would also like to change the rainfall units from inches to mm. Is the only way to start from scratch or can I run a few columes of data through a spreadsheet conversion?
Cheers

Converting all of the rainfall figures in all of the files should work OK. Be very careful to make sure that the spreadsheet software doesn't alter any date or time formats.
Once you've done the edits, before you start Cumulus again with the new station, edit cumulus.ini and change RainUnit=1 to RainUnit=0

Ah - many thanks again Steve - looks like quite a task on my hands though!
Look forward to sharing the fruits of the forthcoming change-over,
Cheers

Well there's lots of good news!
1 The Weathershop delivered the Davis Vantage Vue very promptly - including batteries for the console.
2. Got the units all working and the ISS is on a nice pole to the side of the garden. Reception is excellent, so full marks for the transmission - considering it is coming through 3-4 really thick walls.
3. Set up the data logger and the Weather link s/w. All OK, though I'm disapointed in the way the unit physically interfaces to the console - a bit loose I find.
4. Now to tackle Cumulus!!
I have a FineOffset version at the moment, so need to changeover. I have also gone for conformity with other stations so changed the pressure to hpa, the wind to km and the rain to mm.
I am thinking to myself that the only records I am really interested in carrying over are the rainfall to date (I gave the datalogger the converted figure when it asked) and the max and min temperatures - which were already in C.
Could some kind soul just hold my hand a little - Cumulus is backed up. Bottom line - should I just install clean and then edit a few of the records by hand - would that be easier than potentially messing up the old installation?
Many thanks for your comments

If these are all you want, then the easiest approach is a fresh install, supplying the year to date rainfall total and editing the records that you want to carry over.
