stopping the spiders

Post by neil »

I have finally got round to a hopefully stopping spiders making a home in the rain gauge :bash:
all for the princely sum of 99 pence

first find your nearest 99p or pound store (probably available for a similar price in any supermarket)
buy a splash guard used to cover frying pans
1.jpg
next place the rain gauge on the guard and mark round it with a marker pen
2.jpg
using a sharp knife cut it out and trim it up with scissors i cut it slightly larger than needed to allow it to push into the gauge and not leave any gaps
3.jpg
tuck the cut out mesh into the base and attach the support bracket this will hold one end in place
4.jpg
finally i added a small bolt to the end fixing hole to prevent the mesh falling down
then gave it a spray of plasticoat to try and stop it rusting
5.jpg
time will tell but hopefully this may help :D

ps dont forget to unplug the rain gauge before you start to avoid massive false readings
