Added feature request.

A bit rich I know, a member of the forum for just one day, a Cumulus user for just one week, and already putting in a request for an added feature. Could a future incarnation of Cumulus include the ability to export a file to the user's choice of location? The exported file would contain weather details as specified by the user and selected using template codes, in precisely the same way that WeatherWatcher does. This is very useful when having third-party software such as DM780 write a macro to report on current weather conditions. The problem with WeatherWatcher is it gets its data from various airports around the country and unless you're very close to one of these airports there can be substantial differences between its weather and your weather. The exported file would need to update automatically, overwriting the existing data as any changes occur. Thanks very much for a splendid piece of software, it's far superior to the EasyWeather software that I got with my weather station.

There's a kind of support for that already, with the web tags. If there are any web tags missing that would help you create the file you want, I'd certainly consider adding them; but bear in mind that if Cumulus doesn't currently have easy access to a particular item, there would be more to it than just adding the tag!

Thank you Steve for the very rapid response.

My old brain lacks the plasticity necessary to realise that although a particular aspect of the program may be listed under the heading... Internet... there's no reason why it can't be implemented elsewhere. I will see if I can get it to do what I want it to.

Cheers,

Jeff Cook.

Hi
i use your software and have for a few months. i use third party software like jeff but it is call ECHOPRODUCER and i have the same problem as jeff with weather updates . The file format that EchoProducer needs is a .csv that can be a exported file would need to update automatically, overwriting the existing data as any changes occur . say every 5 , 10 ,15. 20 or 30 mins .If it is all ready in your software i am sorry as i have missed it .

GREAT SOFTWARE . KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK :D :D :D

You should be able to create a template using the web tags, and then use the 'copy' facility rather than ftp. It's not completely flexible, but it may get you what you need.

Buzzzzzzzz....missing web tags?

Well for a start I believe <#realtimeinterval> might be missing from the Help file. :o

How about <#daynameY> Previous day name - ideal for displaying on the Yesterday page?

If that would be useful to others them maybe think of expanding the <Y> tag to include <#dayY>, <#shortdaynameY>, <#dateY> etc.

Then again...maybe not...

Kind regards,

Just came across another idea for an extra webtag for todays, yesterdays and all time highs & lows...

We already have and use the outside temperature webtags such as;

<#tempTH> Todays high temperature
<#TtempTH> Time at which todays high temperature occurred
<#tempTL> Todays low temperature
<#TtempTL> Time at which todays low temperature occurred
<#tempYH> Yesterdays high temperature
<#TtempYH> Time at which yesterdays high temperature occurred
<#tempYL> Yesterdays low temperature
<#TtempYL> Time at which yesterdays low temperature occurred
<#tempH> All time high temperature
<#tempL> All time low temperature etc.

...so what about a set of inside temperature Webtags to match?

Looking at David's excellent iPhone html stuff got me thinking about what info I would like to see at a glance and the inside temperature was one of them so I added <#intemp> to my Current page under the outside temperature which works great.

Thinking further I then thought I would like to know Todays & Yesterdays highest & lowest inside temperatures and maybe include the highest & lowest inside temperatures in Records also.

So unless you have added them by stealth (or because I have not been around here for a while and not noticed they have been added  ) how about it Steve?

Is it possible and if it is does anybody else think this would be a worthwhile addition?

Also Steve if you're listening...did you give any consideration to your 'Maybe' above regarding Yesterdays Day & Date? ;)

Thanks & regards,
-=Glyn=-

I feel that the above formentioned webtags, would be a good feature to have. I myself have been keeping tabs on the inside temperature, while I was away, mainly because I wanted to check that the Temperature wasnt too high for the Server and my Cat.

All Time Records for Inside Temp & Humidity I second.

These all come under the category of 'things Cumulus doesn't currently record', so it's not just a case of creating a web tag. Basically, if you can't see a particular item displayed in Cumulus somewhere, then it's generally non-trivial to add a web tag for it, so it probably isn't going to happen in this version.

So the short answer is: Yes, in Cumulus 2 :)

Steve,

Yeah your quite right, Its not a feature that bothers me at all, I was mearly agreeing with another member.

I look forward to Cumulus 2.

Great work as usual steve, Cumulus seems to get better almost on a daily basis. I know of no other software provider that delivers what you do.

Jason

Would it be possible, without spending too much time, to put values on the right-hand Y axis of the large graphs?

Cheers

I'm afraid not; the charting package doesn't allow it.

Many thanks Steve, it's only a very minor difficulty when I view graphs on my EeePC which runs the Cumulus input to web. Thanks again for great software and immaculate support.
