UV graph has gone chunky in #1043

Post by Gordon-Loomberah »

I installed build 1043 yesterday, and now the UV graphs in select-a-graph have become very blocky, only displaying the value rounded to whole integers, rather than the previously shown nice smooth graphs that displayed the values from the VP2. The UV display in the Solar section of the main display window now also only shows integer values. The UV graph in the Graphs window still displays correctly.

I am looking at the 'UV Index' graphic on the 'Select-A-Graph' window and do not see any 'blocks' - all that is visible is a green line (I guess that is a default colour) displaying the values obtained from my Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus UV sensor.

The graphic displayed in the 'Graphs' window and on the web page is very similar to the above:

Or am I missing something here... :|

Looking at the UV graphic produced by Cumulus build 1043 and build 1042, the index values are rounded full values.

I was previously using 1039 or 1040 I think, as the updates in between then and 1043 didnt really affect me.
You can see what I am talking about here, I updated to 1043 just after 10am:

I'm not aware of having done any changes to UV recently, and it does seem to be OK for Ray, so I don't understand why it would be different for you. I've looked at your web site just now and the graph looks OK?

Yes, the Graphs version is fine, as mentioned earlier, its only the Select-a-Graph version that has changed to the blocks since the update.

I see what's happened. I put in a change in build 1038 to allow the number of displayed and logged decimals for UV to be specified - see the announcement for that build. I defaulted it to zero, because I mistakenly thought (not having a UV sensor) that the Davis always supplies whole numbers, like the Oregon Scientific stations.

You can change it by editing cumulus.ini as described in the announcement.

I'll have to consider whether to put the default back to 1 for Davis stations. If I don't, then I guess it's just going to lead to confusion and more queries in the forum.
