Rainfall information (again)

Post by alexanderfitu »

I know there a lot of threads on this, but I cant get my head around this one.

Cumulus is showing 0.0mm of rain on all rainfull information on the main page, but in the records window it shows highest rain rate at 147.6mm/hr and highest hourly rain at 12.3mm yesterday.

Also, the console shows 12mm of rain over the last 24 hours, why dont they correlate?

I am very confused, thanks in advance!

Please zip up the diags folder and attach it, together with your July log file.

Your station hasn't recorded any real rain at all since you started using Cumulus on the 20th July. It's recorded 12.3 mm in total since the rain gauge was last reset (41 tips). However, yesterday at 15:18 it suddenly decided to double and then treble its rain counter, hence Cumulus recording non-zero rain rate and rain last hour figures. The station then changed its mind and went back to the original total of 12.3 mm.

You can use the built-in editors in Cumulus to reset the all-time records.

On thing that confuses me is that it did rain early this morning, the station appears to have recorded it but cumulus doesn't.

Also why does the rainfall section not correlate with the records section, is the records section displaying the values before they have been sanitised??

Thanks :)

The rainfall counter hasn't changed for a week, apart from the temporary glitch yesterday. If the console is showing rain, it's probably a result of that glitch.

Sorry, I don't understand. You'll have to show me which figures you mean and what you think they should be.

Aha right OK that makes sense with regards to the console numbers.

I mean in my cumulus display, on the main page there is the subsection called Rainfall. In this section all numbers are blank.

In the New Records screen, it shows highest hourly rain of 12.3mm (yesterday), so surely this should have shown up as 12.3mm of rain yesterday on the main rain fall screen?

As I keep trying to explain, the rainfall counter in your rain gauge is still at the figure it was at on the 20th July, so it has recorded no real rainfall. There was a temporary glitch in the counter yesterday, which resulted in bogus values being recorded in Cumulus the rate and last hour figures at around that time, but not in the rain total figure. The figures in the rainfall panel reflect that.
