Is there a way I can tell cumulus to not retry on a failed ftp connection?
It currently retries every 30 secs.

No, sorry.Queeg wrote:Is there a way I can tell cumulus to not retry on a failed ftp connection?
It should only retry 3 times, and then give up. Is it not doing that?It currently retries every 30 secs.

Yeah looks to be doing just 3.
But apparently even that low in combination with my email connection it triggered some sort of anti-spam/anti-attk feature on my webhost.

Re: Ftp retry settings.
I can very easily make the number of retries configurable (from zero upwards); I'll put it in the next build. But I think your web host is broken; four connect attempts over a period of 2 minutes doesn't constitute an attack. And why are the connections failing anyway, if they're getting as far as the server?

Re: Ftp retry settings.
Yeah I had the same question but they had extremely poor English so the question fell on deaf ears
multiple times
I did find out 3 bad attempts (I'm assuming that has to be login) in 15 mins or "when there are continuously increase the connection with same IP our firewall will automatically treat it as an attacking host" (whatever that is in English. I'm assuming DoS behavior) triggers a simple firewall IP lockout.
A combination of events must have come together to trigger a lockout because it ran happy for a few weeks before it happened and hasn't happened again since.
But yeah being able to change the retry count/timer will be a handy feature.

Re: Ftp retry settings.
If this service provider is using the latest update to its server software (including the control panel), then, repeated multiple FTP accesses to its servers (from the same IP address) will automatically trigger the blocking action - the block should automatically be removed after a few hours (if properly setup by the IT people) - otherwise, an email message needs to be sent to the service provider.

Re: Ftp retry settings.
It could be that.
Does cumulus close the connection after transfer?
I was uploading at 5 min intervals and my site is setup to close ftp connections after 15 mins idle.
So its possible I could have had 3 ftp connections at a given time.
