Yesterday display figures disappeared

The last few days when I open Cumulus for the first time each day everything seems to be displayed ok, however if I close it down and open it a second time there are no figures in the yesterday fields on the main display. I am a bit of a novice in all this but after reading this forum I saved my data and ini file deleted cumulus and reinstalled adding the 2 files but the problem still occurs. This morning on the second time of opening I had the following error messages, error writing alltime ini access denied, error opening alltimelog text, error writing alltimelog text. Any help would be appreciated but remember im a novice at both computers and weather stations.

Most likely a failure to do the end of day 'rollover', and often caused by allowing the PC to 'sleep' while Cumulus is running. If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.
The problems writing to the files suggest that you had two copies of Cumulus running.

Thanks for the reply hopefully Ive attached the zip file required. Just to add I always backed up the cumulus folder to a different partition on my hard drive every day and always turn the computer off before midnight though I do leave the weather console attached via the usb cable.
Just to add a donation has been sent

Something on your system is preventing Cumulus writing to some of its files, e.g. yesterday.ini:
16/07/2012 08:19:50.703 : Error writing yesterday.ini: Unable to write to C:\Cumulus\data\yesterday.ini
This is why there's no 'yesterday' data when it starts up again.
16/07/2012 09:00:50.093 : Error writing alltime.ini: Cannot create file "C:\Cumulus\data\alltime.ini". Access is denied
16/07/2012 09:00:50.109 : SetAllTime: Error opening alltimelog.txt: Cannot open file "C:\Cumulus\data\alltimelog.txt". Access is denied
It looks like a permissions problem rather than a 'sharing violation' which anti-virus software can cause.
You need to check your permissions; specifically the permissions of the user you're running Cumulus under with respect to the Cumulus data folder and files. It's a bit strange that yesterday.ini is affected but today.ini isn't.

Thanks for the reply and Im sure to most here it made sense, unfortunately fo me it went straight over my head.
I am the only user of the computer, before a couple of days ago all was working well, as far as im aware no settings have been altered, is it not possible to delete cumulus from my computer and reinstall again having saved my data folder and see if that works this time or reinstall cumulus and download all the data again from my weather station as it had only been running since May.
Any help would be much appreciated

You could try deleting the yesterday.ini file so that Cumulus has to recreate it, and see if that fixes that problem. If it did, you could then try deleting the other two files which Cumulus can't write to - alltime.ini and alltimelog.txt - but for those you will need to restore from your backup. How do you take those backups, by the way? Just by copying the files? And do you do it with Cumulus stopped?
If none of that works then it's worth trying an uninstall/reinstall, but you would also need do delete the Cumulus folder after the uninstall as otherwise an uninstall/reinstall has no effect. You could then restore your data folder from a backup.

I copied the complete cumulus folder each night and I am fairly certain cumulus was stopped . Each time I backed up I ticked the box to overight all the files, in future I will just back up the data folder. Thanks for the advice I will give it a go and let you know how i get on.

Well I saved my data file and cumulus ini file onto a usb stick I then deleted cumulus and reinstalled it and inserted the cumulus ini folder and data folder from the stick.
This morning all the display is working correctly apart from error records which I have attached, presumably if I close cumulus and reopen then yesterdays display will disappear. Is it possible to delete all files and folders of cumulus and reinstall and download all the data from the weather station which I think is stored in the memory as I only started running it on 30 May. Any help would be much appreciated.

The yesterday.ini file was still there (I suggested you delete it), so the problem still exists:
17/07/2012 08:11:55.656 : Read yesterday file: Date = 13/07/2012 Date now = 17/07/2012
17/07/2012 08:12:00.375 : Error writing yesterday.ini: Unable to write to C:\Cumulus\data\yesterday.ini
As you're using a 30-minute logger interval in the station, it's holding 85 days of data, so yes, it should still have data back to 30 May. So you could if you want start again from scratch and get Cumulus to download it; but it won't do it automatically, see

the yesterday ini file doesnt exist
It must exist, as otherwise Cumulus wouldn't be able to read it and see that the last time it was updated was 13 July; it can't just make that date up from nowhere. Perhaps you have file extensions hidden in Windows, and that's confusing you? Do you have a file that looks like it is just called 'yesterday'? See this page for how to fix Microsoft's stupid mistake:

Thanks for the help Steve with my limited knowledge of computers I searched everywhere for that yesterday ini file but could not find it, I also checked in the folder options to see if it was hidden and no luck so decided to delete eveything and reinstall and redownload all the data back to 30 may as advised and bingo eveything seems to be working. ive closed cumulus down several times and when opening again yesterday figures are there, I also looked in the data folder and yes there is the yesterday ini file.
So one last question though im sure you have more than earnt my small donation, can you point me in the right direction as to back up my data and save it on a usb stick ie which files do i actually need to save.
Thanks again for your help and keep up the good work.

The data folder is the important one, everything else is either static or recreated automatically.
