web hosting for weather site

Post by w5afw »

Please suggest a web host for weather web stations. I subscribe to two hosting services, one for my personal info pages, and one for my amateur radio pages. Both of them (Comcast.net and office live.net) are very reliable, but neither one of them supports php, etc. I set my weather station website up on a free hosting service (comli.com), which provides support for many scripts and has other nice features. Unfortunately, some users of the service apparently conduct illicit activities through their web sites, and legitimate ISP's respond by blocking access to their root domains. Therefore, access to my site is frequently blocked by these domain-blocking schemes. I suspect this might be a problem with any of the free hosting services.

Anyway, I need suggestions for reliable and inexpensive hosting services which offer php support, and perhaps which cater to amateur weather station enthusiasts, like myself. Thanks for sharing your ideas and experiences.

.
E-Rice

Is used by a lot of Weather Websites. Start at around $10 per year. Includes not only PHP but MySQL access as well.

I agree...E-Rice is one of the most popular to use and reasonablly priced.

I myself got their "Standard 2 " 20/year package and for all the stuff currently on my Main website..I am not even using half of the allowed space out of my 200mb. which leaves plenty of space to play with.

for my domain name of "www.gateway2capecod.com"..I went to godaddy.com and it is $10.00/year.

If your not familiar with php..eventually you will be and will want to have PHP5 available on your server, which E-Rice has.
