While any system that’s fully automated strikes me as more dependable, I take betelJuice‘s point that current data calculation software has its limitations. So how about a different approach?

We have printed tide tables for the whole year, so I could write a wee program to upload the current day’s times of high and low tide. Then my question becomes: “Is there a way of integrating this data into the Cumulus web pages?” (Is this the purpose of the additional ‘Files’ pane on the Internet configuration?

The 'Files' tab is for specifying files which get uploaded automatically in addition to, or instead of the supplied web pages, with optional processing of web tags. With the method you propose, you would have to have some code on your web pages that read the file you're uploading - rather like the code that various people have produced that reads the realtime.txt file.

I've had a look at WXTide, my nearest reference station appears to be Wick, though there are nearer subordinate stations. How do I go about working out what my Tide Differences are from Wick, so I can set up a local station?

Steve I'll take a look and let you know later how I did it as it was a looong time ago......

Steve what I did was to get the official tide heights and times from my nearest official station and then adjust the offsets in the 'Custom Station' option of WXTide until I ot it to be reasonably in line with the official figures. For me that meant getting the Port of Ramsgate tide tables which we can purchase locally and then setup frm there tweaking them until it worked out quite well. Not very scientific but it worked.

Thanks, Stuart. I'm actually fortunate in having one of the Easytide stations (Kettletoft Pier) a few hundred yards from the house, so I can tweak and compare until I get close.
