Since I have reset my system today and started everything over, the wind direction gauge is now flashing about every minute.
Can you tell me what setting to use to have this stop?

You haven't said which version you're using, but some of the later builds of 1.9.2 caused redraw flicker with the compass on some systems for some unknown reason. I put a change into 1.9.3 which I believe has fixed this. See the Announcements and News section for more information and a download link if you want to install it (assuming you aren't using it already).
