Out of blue, Cumulus stopped working

Post by hossmandu »

got my new ambient weather WS-2080 up and running last week, cumulus worked just fine for several days, updating Weather Underground then this morning bam! Stopped working. Restarted PC and same error. Uninstalled and then re-installed with same results. Immediately after launching Cumulus, it crashes, every time. Attached is bugreport.txt

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I've seen this crash before, in files people have submitted some weeks after they originally had this problem. It's not crashing in my code; I believe it's a bug in the Delphi runtime code and unfortunately I don't have a work around, and I don't know what people who had the problem did to get it working again - you are the first person to actually report the problem when you hit it.

You could try deleting your cumulus.ini file. You would have to enter your settings again, but it might get you going.

It's possible that the crash is a side effect of something that happens earlier, so if you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I mat be able to see what happened just before the crash. It does look like it was trying to log an error message before the crash.

So I deleted the .ini file. It started up straight to the settings screen, set everything up, and then same crash. Attached are files from the diags folder. Thanks!

Your station has got itself into an odd state where the first bytes of memory don't contain the values Cumulus expects which show that the station is working properly. The most reliable solution is to reset the station - remove USB cable and batteries. It looks like something happened several days ago which caused the memory to become corrupt; Cumulus was getting a lot of garbage readings.

Your solution worked. Working fine now for several hours. Thanks.
