Yet another rain gauge failure mechanism

My rain gauge has been stuck for most of this month. Shaking it got it going again for a day or two, but it stuck again so I took it apart to sort it out. I found a very small piece of metal attached to the magnet on the bucket see-saw, just enough to rub against the reed switch housing and stop the see-saw tipping.

My (Fine Offset) rain gauge stopped registering some time ago. The anemometer has also seized, and I have no humidity. I really should get around to investigating!

Hi Steve
I get a fairly salty atmosphere here and I found the bearing in my anemometer had completely rusted. The phone type connectors are also hopeless and corrode very quickly. The humidity sensor has never been very good and I largely gave up on it and covered the transmitter with a polythene bag inside my radiation shield. I don't think the FO is very good for a coastal environment.
Regards
