Windspeed Odd behaviour

Post by apenwith »

Hi

My WS1081 windspeed shows a much lower than realistic speed when it rains - sometimes even zero. I would expect corroded connections to affect the reading all the time but this morning when the rain stopped and everything started to dry out in the wind the reading was back to normal 28 knots gusting 36. This wind cable is actually soldered into the transmitter and I did clean a joiner yesterday (couldn't get at the mast top connector to the direction sensor).

Regards
Alan

I replaced an anemometer that was doing something similar - it seems it was only giving 1 count per revolution rather than 2. I guess the reed switch was failing in some fashion. It certainly was not expected!

My guess is moisture in the connector, it was happening to mine before I resealed it. You'll have to make the conector water proof.
