Running Cumulus over a local network

I am planning to use an old netbook as my permanent PC connecting to my Vantage PRO and to connect to the internet. I also want to connect to it for displaying Cumulus information on a separate PC over my LAN. Is this possible?

Not by using a separate installation of Cumulus, unless you have a Weatherlink IP or you use Virtual VP.
The way I view Cumulus data over my local network is to either use Remote Desktop to the PC running Cumulus, or simply look at my web site.

Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. After posting the question I came to the same conclusion, either run RDT or GoToMyPC to access the data!

Hi Ron,
I'm not sure if this may of some help?
I have been writing a program called "Cumulus RealTime Data Grabber", as a project for me to learn VB.NET.
Which grabs the data that Cumulus writes to the realtime.txt file, then collates the information and
display's it on various screens. It is handy if you want to view the information from another computer.
If you visit the link below and then go to
[page 11] of the thread and look for the link
to download
version 1.3.2 (which is the latest, as of 28/05/2012) it may be of some use for you

Maybe Cumulus could have a "slave" mode that would not look for a station and just display information from a network folder we define instead of Cumulus\data

Yes, something along those lines has always been a possibility for a future version.

Just to float an idea...
Get your primary Cumulus to create a real time file in Easy weather format, share out the folder holding that file. Install your secondary Cumulus on another PC with a drive connected to the primary share, set it monitor the 'EasyWeather' file, and copy over your history data.
What could possibly go wrong?
