Website intergration

Hi

Now i'm being either really stupid or there's something wrong with my FTP uploading but......

I'm try to get the weather up on the internet via my website (www.rogdabbit.co.uk). I'm HTML fluent, I've self built my website and I'm pretty good at the Java etc

But can I get this to work?? No I can't

So tell me where i'm going wrong.

I've tried my own templates - not worked, even tried the standard ones - not worked

I'm guessing you create the relevant folders on your site (the ones as described in the help files - weatherstyle.css etc) then put in the correct details into the Internet setup (for me website/weather) and Bingo, it should work - No

I haven't touched the files in the web section of Cumulus as I'm guessing these are what get sent to my provider (I haven't replaced the originals with my templates yet)

Thanks for any help

Rgds

Frustrated, its sunny and I've got a cold so can't go out

Yes; as it says in the help, you just copy the contents of the 'webfiles' folder to your server, maintaining the structure - i.e. just drag and drop if using a graphical ftp client, then provide the details in the internet settings in Cumulus. The most likely reason for it not working is supplying an invalid path in 'ftp directory'. It needs to be the relative path from the point where you log in, to the directory where you uploaded the Cumulus files.

If you turn on the ftp logging it should give more information.

Hi Steve,

Yep, done all the FTP logging etc

It's finding the site, uploading with no problems, but when I do a test run to the webpage I'm getting the 404 error message

Then I think you will have to ask your web space provider for help, as all anyone here can do is speculate. If Cumulus is putting the files where you're telling it to put them and there are no ftp errors, then my guess would be that you're not putting them in the correct place on your web server. There's nothing special about the Cumulus web pages, and it just uses ftp in the same way that you would ftp an html file to the server. So if the Cumulus index.htm page is being uploaded to your server to a place which should be visible from the web, there's no reason that you shouldn't be able to point a browser at it and view it.

Arrgh ... DON'T use Dreamweaver on templates, It thinks it's being clever and replaces Cumulus <#webtag> for &th;#webtag> - which won't work !

Use something like Notepad++

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies and the comments on my site, sorry for the delay but I've been away quite a bit this week

As for the Dreamweaver bit - I wasn't actually changing any of the templates, especially in Dreamweaver, I just couldn't get it to work, fullstop.

I've subsequently found out that my provider was: 1) having server issues which meant files weren't being uploaded completely; and 2) having just upgraded my service to a larger storage capacity some of my files hadn't copied over correctly either - a double whammy basically

Anyway, it's working now. I will create my own template so that it integrates into my main site a bit better but I will be doing my own coding, don't worry ;)

Thanks for all the advice

Tony
