Webcam live streaming and security

I've been showing a live webcam stream under the Webcam setting on Cumulus, bit of a fiddle opening ports, but it worked. Then I had a thought, I'm letting the outside world straight into my home network, whereas the website is hosted by BTinternet, which will no doubt have its own security arrangements! I've subsequently only showed images taken every 60 seconds via Cumulus and the website.
Am I being paranoid?

As long as the only port you have open only goes to your Webcam, I don't think it's a problem. The Wecam is not a computer per se, everything is firmware based so there's really no way to upload malicious code or hijack it. About the only thing a hacker could do would be to flood the open port with a Denial of Service Attack (DOS), but since you aren't the Bank of London (I presume), there would be very little point!
