missing data

Hi,

I seem to have a new conundrum that I wonder if you can help me with. I have connected my station to the pc this morning and fired up cumulus. but it is showing some odd readings. For instance, about 01.00 yesterday morning the station recorded a small ammount of rain and about 10.00 yesterday it recorded a gust of wind round about 22mph and these recordings were logged and showed up on my screen all day yesterday, but this morning they are not there it is showing no rainfall for yesterday and it says the highest wind gust was about 9mph about 22.00 last night also the temperature here yesterday at 1500 was 13.8° but cumulus has recorded the highest temp as 9° at 21.15. Another odd thing is that if I look on my web pages at the records for yesterday it shows no rain but if I look on the records page it shows the 0.01 that we had yesterday morning. I perhaps havent explained very well but it appears that some of my data has vanished overnight.

I should just point out that I have not altered or messed about with anything.

Hi again Steve,

Sorry to be a nuisance but i have just spotted something else. If I look on my graphs for yesterday, they show the rainfall, highest temp and wind gusts all ok but the records dont.

Im very confused

What sort of station (Fine Offset?)?. Could you put it in your profile, please?

Could you let me have the files from the Diags folder, your Feb09log.txt, dayfile.txt, and if possible screen shots to show the data that's wrong.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. my Station is a Watson W-8681. I have now put it in my profile.
I am now about to attempt to send you the file you requested.

Not sure if these are what you want but heres the dayfile

I don't really know how to take or send you any screenshots. Sorry this must be more frustrating for you than me ;)

Right Steve, Ive sussed the screenshot jobby.

If you look at the main screen one you will see that all of yesterdays extremes appear to be after 21.00 including the highest temperature, but the graph shows the true high temp yesterday afternoon. Hope this means something to you :?

Thanks for all of those. It looks like you were having trouble getting started up just after 0500 this morning? On the first of those start ups at 05:04, Cumulus failed to find the station, and it over-wrote the values in the today.ini file, which was holding your extremes up until you closed down at 21:15 last night, so it lost anything before that time. Not sensible. I'll have a look to see if it always does that when it fails to find the station, and make sure it doesn't do it in future.

In the meantime, you can, if you want, find the backup which was taken when it made that unsuccessful attempt to start at 05:04, and copy the files out of that into the data folder (with Cumulus stopped), and then start Cumulus. It should then use the data from the logger and sort itself out.

Steve

Thanks very much Steve.

I know what happened you have just jogged my memory. When I started Cumulus this morning I forgot to plug the station in so I exited and plugged it in then restarted cumulus.

So it would appear that brain of britain strikes again ;)

Sorry Steve

Many thanks,

Dave
