Maybe a silly question

Post by geoffp »

Hi Steve.

I guess this maybe a silly question :bash: but would it be possible to use the Cumulus "Display" consisting of:-

Outdoor
Rainfall
Wind
Barometer
Recent Extremes

but minus the Gauges as a home page on a website, I think it would carry as much info as some of the "Ajax" pages I have seen so far, and maybe the Almanac details could be put into another panel.

Like I say I am possibly talking rubbish
Regards,

Geoff

I don't see why not; all of the items are available as web tags. Maybe I'm missing the point of your question?

Hi Steve, I just want a nice layout for my home page, and I was just looking at the layout of the "Display" page and thought that it might suit.

Geoff

I think what Geoff means is to use the layout of the Cumulus main screen for a web page. If I'm being asked to create the web page, then I'm the wrong person to ask. But I believe someone has already done this, some time ago. I seem to remember them being unwilling to share their work, for some reason; but I might be misremembering.

Hi Ron, hope you are well, I am afraid I am a bit of a fussy old git, to me that dashboard looks very dull, but saying that maybe it could be worked on to make it more brighter.

Like I said I like the Ajax templates but would not be able to set them up.

Take care Ron.

Geoff

Geoff well I 'm just getting a headache from translating a template from The Betel :D . He also made a nice template in ajax-style in the past http://www.dickie.webfusion.co.uk/cumul ... index.html described over here https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=414 , I never understanded why that topic had no follow up, another ajax-php template is made by Ken from saratogaWX https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4561 .

As you say you find them hard to set up I think they are documented very well, but if you've no knowledge of html it's sometimes hard to follow. You can also use the static templates from Jaques , most are in development on http://weatherbyyou.com/ but some are nice and spicy.

If you really want a brand site you will have to investigate a lot in website programming I can assure you if you want to have a brand design and have to pay for the developer it will cost you a lot of money so I'm glad that usefull code is shared on this forum.

I can't make advanced templates so you better try the examples and try to modify them to your needs even the 'dull realtime dashbord' can be spiced up with other colors and some pictures and icons. I've read several posts of people over here who never read or wrote a piece of html but after a lot trial and error they succeeded in creating nice pages.

Good luck.

Geoff,

Check this site: http://www.belts.net/ch/lobby_display.html for what can be done with the console template.
