Reading through various topics, the answer to a given problem is occasionally "add a line to the cumulus.ini file with ___ = __". It would be helpful to know everything that could be tweaked in this manner. Is it documented somewhere?
I guess it could get combersome having everything with default values listed in the file, although this would be best. The WIKI might be another choice, although keeping it up to date is a big problem - the information there is several releases out of date and even missing some current "standrd" parameters.

Re: Cumulus.ini settings
I noticed recently that the [Solar] section is missing from the wiki page; I do make small corrections and additions myself from time to time, but keeping it all up to date does take a lot of work, so it's not surprising that it gets a little behind. Ideally, there would be very few ini-file only settings and everything would be configurable via Cumulus (and hence documented in the help). It's really only the items which are ini-file only settings which need documenting separately.
Note that having the cumulus.ini file self documenting is not really an option as the file isn't actually distributed, it's created dynamically.

Re: Cumulus.ini settings
Steve, the wiki page is a bit of nightmare anyway, if I reorganise it, could you document any entries I add where I have the parameter but not meaning and then add any missing stuff when you have the time.
I will split the file up by section, and sort the param's into alphabetical order - it should make finding stuff a bit easier...

Re: Cumulus.ini settings
It will be great to get this tidy! I'll be happy to help, although Mark is the guru here, and it may be best with fewer cooks in the kitchen, so to speak.
I'm not sure the original question will be completely addressed, however. Let me try to express it differently...
I don't read all areas of the Forum, but in the Fine Offset areas I've come across 2 parameters that do not appear in the .ini file until lines are added. "EWpressureoffset=x" to override the F.O. absolute to relative pressure conversion, and "LuxToWM2=x" to override the default conversion factor. I'm guessing there are several others, but maybe not. The problem is - if there is no line in the .ini file until added, how does one know they even exist?
Will these be in the WIKI too?
There are things I'd like to be able to tweak - and maybe I already can - such as indoor humidity, or calibrating the F.O. LUX reading after I compare it to a commercial light meter, etc.

Yes; and in fact as far as I'm concerned, that's the main purpose of that wiki page - to document those entries which can't be set via Cumulus so don't get documented in the help file. EWpressureoffset is documented there already.Charlie wrote:I don't read all areas of the Forum, but in the Fine Offset areas I've come across 2 parameters that do not appear in the .ini file until lines are added. Re: Cumulus.ini settings
OK, I've split the file up and added lots of missing parameters - there are probably lots I have missed. Many of the descriptions are missing, but that is all I have time for today.
I think putting the param's that are INI file only in BOLD or some other distinction would be a good idea at some stage.

Re: Cumulus.ini settings
I have added some more descriptions to the wiki this morning. That's me done again for today.
