Trouble with Twitter

Post by Johnny25 »

Looking for some help customizing the Twitter message.

Read the Wiki link etc and placed a file, twitter.txt into the Cumulus main file (in my C Dirve) with customized message.

Uploaded the file to the web and adjusted the settings (files) in Cumulus.

I can read the updated twitter.txttmp file with the customized message, but Cumulus is still sending the original message, not the customized one.

Many Thanks
Johnny

You don't upload the file to the web, or change any settings anywhere in Cumulus; you just put it in the Cumulus installation folder (in the same place as cumulus.exe) and Cumulus reads it and uses it. Did you put it in the correct place?

You may have some invalid characters in the twitter.txt file (e.g. 'non-English' characters) which are stopping the update working. Turn on the debug log, then when a twitter update should have happened, zip up the diags folder and attach it here, along with your twitter.txt file.

I know that others have had problems with Twitter with accented characters, but I can't remember whether there was a solution.

It may do, but note that it's from the days before the oauth nonsense started. But I thought I remembered someone here solving the problem by using HTML entities.

It does look like Cumulus would have to UTF-8 encode the text to get this to work.
