Request help re: adding NOAA link
Hello - can someone point me in the right direction? I have generated NOAA files and uploaded them to my website (thanks to beteljuice's instructions and files). They can be viewed at http://web.ripnet.com/~mbkerr/noaa_reports.html. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to link to them via my website. I have tried modifying index.htm, creating a new noaa.htm etc with no success. I have searched the forum, but have not found a solution. I know it is probably very simple, however my head is starting to hurt from repeated banging against the wall. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Firstly, you need to edit indexT.htm, not index.htm otherwise your edited file is replaced on the next update. The template is processed by Cumulus and the results made visible on your site.
Here is what I have added to my indexT.htm in the hyperlinks section...
<a href="NOAA.php">NOAA Reports</a>
You should have a NOAAT.php in your cumulus\web folder which you need to add to the additional files to be uploaded in Configuration - Internet - Files. The file should be named NOAA.php on your server. Tick the Process and FTP checkboxes.
See if that helps.
LATER: On your home page your NOAA link reads as follows:-
<a href="noaa.htm">NOAA</a>
but the page you pointed us to is named noaa_reports.html.
Change your link to <a href="noaa_reports.html">NOAA</a> and it should work and you may not need the PHP alternative.

Re: Request help re: adding NOAA link
Thanks very much Ray! Got the link to work as per your instructions, however I just noticed that my noaa reports stopped on Apr 26. Will investigate (bang another part of my old head on the wall) tomorrow. Thanks again!!

I think you will need the PHP option to keep the data refreshed. I suspect 26 April was the date you created all your NOAA reports so without a PHP refresh you won't see any new data.

Thanks Beteljuice. I'd missed that was an alternative way of uploading. Perhaps I should leave the help to those more qualified.beteljuice wrote:The page that is posted is the JavaScript version Ray, so as long as the reports are being updated / uploaded .....

If everybody knew everything there would be no forum, no variety and it would all get VERY boringRay wrote:... Perhaps I should leave the help to those more qualified.
Anyone (almost) who is prepared to even try and share experiences, and thus make themselves a 'target' should be at least encouraged if not respected.

Ye speak wisely. I now know a bit more than I did yesterday and others probably do too. Thanks for the words of encouragement.beteljuice wrote:Anyone (almost) who is prepared to even try and share experiences, and thus make themselves a 'target' should be at least encouraged if not respected.

Re: Request help re: adding NOAA link
Hi - an update. This a.m. I manually uploaded the noaa files, confirmed there had indeed uploaded and checked my website. Still only displayed records to Apr 26. Then it dawned on me to clear my browser cache. Sucess!! Not sure, but hopeful, that files will update automatically. Will wait and see what happens at rollover tonite. Thanks again.

Hi Bernie,
I too can see records up to 29 April. Hopefully you're sorted!
