I never use screensavers, I just let the monitor go to sleep. You would expect a screensaver not to interfere with anything running on the PC, but I guess that depends on how its written. Cumulus uses standard Windows timers to update the clock.

Had it actually stopped reading data and logging it?

But if it's still updating, and the main window updates after you turn the screen on again, what's the problem?

Your PC must be doing more than just powering down the monitor if it's actually affecting Cumulus. On my system I have 'Turn off the display: 5 minutes', 'Put the computer to sleep: never' and 'Screen saver: none'. All other power saving settings are disabled.

I think what he means is the graphical update of the GUI. When the computer comes off from screen sleep, it most likely has the last snapshot before turning off the screen, then it shows it and only after it updates, but try to test to see if it affects the data.

The display (not just Cumulus, the whole of the Windows desktop) should be updating all the time, regardless of whether the monitor is on or off. The display being turned off due to inactivity should have no effect on that; it's just the same as turning off the monitor via the on/off switch. As soon as the monitor is powered up, the display should already be showing the latest data. So clearly something else is going to sleep rather than just the monitor.

Maybe his graphics card, so that behaviour is observed but I dunno really.
