'Just thought I would post this as an FYI for other users...
For several months now I've been struggling to get rid of erroneous wind readings that would show up when I would attach my 3-4 year old laptop to my Lacrosse 2315 console. The readings occurred regardless of the weather software I was using, including Cumulus. After many attempted fixes, the only that finally solved the problem was grounding my laptop with a separate grounding wire attached to one of the screws for attaching a serial plug/cable to the laptop. Full details of the problem, attempted "fixes" and the final "fix" are described in detail here http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=3359.0. Hopefully this will save someone else some hassle on down the line...

Sounds like you have a broken 0 volt wire in your connecting cable?
