Cumulus do not keep rain data

Post by ergie »

Hi,
I am new here so please not blame me very much if I am writing in wrong place.
I got Watson w-8681 weather station and newest version of cumulus installed on Windows XP. I note that there is problem with rain counting.
After rain cumulus shows me that there is rain and after hour or two all data gone. I can find it only in gauges section in website or sometime even gone from there. I tried everything form scratch and still same. For etc. yesterday evening was rain and cumulus registered it. And this morning again there is no any rain in rainfall section in cumulus and on website I can find some data in gauges section.
Watson w-8681 console shows all rain and when I close cumulus and open EasyWeather so I can see rain data.
What I am doing wrong? How I can fix that annoying problem.
Thank you,
Rim

Hi,
thank you for quick replay. I posted almost two same posts. :) But second one was with much more information. I think second post will be more informative.
I am attaching diags zip to this post.
Thanks,
R.

You have your station's logger interval set to 2 hours. This isn't a very practical interval, and I'm afraid Cumulus can't cope with that value - it can't do the midnight rollover correctly - - as it says in the readme.txt file.

Hi,
On cumulus I set update interval every 5mins.
Where I shoul set 5mins instead 2hrs to update realtime.txt?
Thanks,

It's not a setting in Cumulus, it's the logger interval in your station. If you want to change it, you can use Easyweather, or a utility I wrote: https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7161

It's very strange. I done that with EasyWeather before I set interval to 5min. And 10mins. ago I download your software and when I turned on it shows that my interwas set to 5mins.

Yes, the memory location which holds the logger interval has the value 5, but previously it was 240, so presumably you changed it some time today? If that's the case then you should be OK from now on. It still appeared to be logging at a longer interval in the latest diags file.

Before I posted diags to forum I didn't change anything. Only after when you said about interval and software.
I am attaching new diags now. Can you look at them?
By the way what program do you use to open diags files?
Thanks,
Rim

I use notepad++. They're plain text files.

Your rain gauge keeps resetting to zero:

22/04/2012 02:23:30.652 : 02:23:30 ****Rain reset? First chance: raindaystart = 2.09999990463257, raintotal = 0
22/04/2012 02:23:30.652 : Leaving counter at 2.09999990463257
22/04/2012 02:23:40.656 : 02:23:40 ****Rain counter reset confirmed: raindaystart = 2.09999990463257, raintotal = 0
22/04/2012 02:23:40.656 : Setting raindaystart to 0
22/04/2012 02:25:00.701 : Writing today.ini, LastUpdateTime = 22/04/2012 02:25:00 raindaystart = 0 rain counter = 0

22/04/2012 18:20:00.440 : Writing today.ini, LastUpdateTime = 22/04/2012 18:20:00 raindaystart = 0 rain counter = 1.5
22/04/2012 18:25:00.705 : Writing today.ini, LastUpdateTime = 22/04/2012 18:25:00 raindaystart = 0 rain counter = 0

You're also getting a lot of 'lost sensor contact', which may well be related. You need to check your sensors, perhaps a loose connection or a battery problem.
