It's been a while since I have been around these parts...
I have an old Maplin/Fine Offset that worked well with Cumulus until the last set of fresh Duracells lasted a measly 3 months (after the first set lasted a little over a year) and I have not had the heart nor inspiration to go up on the roof and change them.
So no weather station, no Cumulus, no website updates for well over a year now.
However I am being bitten by the weather bug again and want to do things properly and so am looking at the Davis Pro 2 wireless probably with the Solar & UV Sensors.
As most everything in my house is on the network the Weatherlink IP would be the data logger of choice but how does this integrate with Cumulus as I see various references to issues with the Davis data loggers of different flavours and Cumulus?
If I used the 6555 IP data logger I believe it will automatically feed the Davis website for my own weather data which would be nice.
Assuming I don't then use another weather program would not the data stream from the logger not co-exist nicely with Cumulus?
And if I did want to use another program in addition to Cumulus how exactly would I do that in plain terms as I believe there is some software patch that would enable this?
How about if I used a second data logger; would prefer USB but it seems that serial is the preferred option despite serial ports not being fitted to most motherboards since 1875 or something
Maybe the IP feeding the Davis website & the local Weatherlink software and the USB (or serial) feeding Cumulus for example?
Expensive way round but then again Davis is not cheap either (especially over here in the UK)
Why the huge difference in price...that can't be explained away by exchange rate/shipping surely? Greedy distributor?
Maybe I shouldn't be looking at those US sellers on eBay but it makes you think doesn't it?
Anyway any hints/tips/gotchas in using the Pro 2 and Cumulus would be much appreciated.
Thanks & kind regards,
