Pathetic Panic buying

Post by robynfali »

I do find that "most" of these people running to petrol stations are idiots, yeah fair enough some have an empty tank and were going anyway, but running out to stick a tenner in? and now locally people are actually filling their tanks and driving off!!

MUPPETS!!

What does your petrol cost? We had a spate of driving off without paying here in the States during the OPEC oil crisis of the 70's, when the price jumped from $0.36/gal to $0.60/gal (£0.33/L to £0.36/L in today's money). Current price: $3.75/gal (£0.62/L).

Prices in the UK vary depending on where you are; the price here in Orkney is about the highest in the UK. But on average the price in the UK is about the same as you're paying in the US.

Oh, hold on, I forgot about tax. Add about £0.80 per litre to your price.

Hmm, an attempt by the gov to divert media attention away from Cameron's 'dinners' and Osbourne's 'pasty tax' that has rather backfired on them :-)

But they've now got a better idea of the public's susceptibility and lack of analytical skills which will help them formulate policy at the next election.

This week the Australian national average petrol price is $1.53/litre - that's about $5.80/us gallon, or $6.97/imp. gallon!

At this price, we don't have too many people panic buying....or queues, for that matter.
Cheers,
Graeme.
