Has anyone modified the 8681 'base station' display to be powered from a mains adapter? If so some guidance would be great!
Also does using its USB port 24/7 take additional power from the internal batteries? I read elsewhere in the forum about power from the USB, I got the impression (probably incorrectly) that the PC's USB port may help supply power to the 'base station'. Nice if it does.

My concern about power is that I don't want it to fail while away for long periods.

Thanks for reading this.

Hi Dennis
The USB cable will supply 5 volts from the computer. This 5 volts powers a relay to disconnect the batteries so, assuming the USB has power, then the batteries should last a long time as they are not used unless there is a power failure and the computer has no mains power.
The USB supplies all power required.

Hi Terry

Well that's wonderful - thank you so much! Shame the so called 'Operation Manual' is poor.

Best wishes from the UK
