Merging today/yesterday and this month/year webpages
I wish to merge the data on the today and yesterday pages into one page as today/yesterday and also with this month and this year. I have seen a few here have done that. While I should be fine creating the file, I just wondering should I edit the today file for example and remove the link for the yesterday, or should I just add the file under the files tab of the internet settings like I have donw with the about the manual data pages. How should this work. I would appreciate advice regarding this.

You could modify one of the existing xxxxT.htm files incorporating the content of the others, OR you could create a new template file altogether !
If you modify an existing one then you won't need to 'declare' it as a file to process and upload
As long as you have 'include standard files' checked, ALL the default files MUST be present and will be uploaded - even if you don't want them all, so make sure you remove all the menu links to the pages you don't want seen.
Next time you update the Cumulus PROGRAM, make sure that you DON'T overwrite your modified file. (Any new templates will still be available in another folder)

Understand most of that.
So with the standard files they all have to be uploaded whether or not I want them all. I can't just delelte the xxxT.hml from the web folder for the ones I don't want. is that right.
This bit I don't quite understand.beteljuice wrote:If you modify an existing one then you won't need to 'declare' it as a file to process and upload

Re: Merging today/yesterday and this month/year webpages
If you modify one of the 'standard' file names ie. don't change the name !
Then it will continue to be processed and uploaded as a 'standard' file (with the same name).
No need to put it the include files list.

You can stop any of the standard files being processed and uploaded by deleting them from the web folder, yes. Cumulus will just log an error to the diags files saying that it can't find the file(s).

Re: Merging today/yesterday and this month/year webpages
Thanks again Steve. That sounds good because if I don't want it on the site, there not point uploading. I will it give thought and I was also thinking of instead by of that, I could untick the standard files and list the ones I want. Another way could to use the unwanted files for a different page than what is intended, for example I use the today for today and yesterday and use yesterday for a new page. Or I blank out the page so it stills uploads, but remove the link on the menu.

@ Steve
I thought it used to 'fold' if a 'standard' template were not available ?
Is that a change I missed ?You can stop any of the standard files being processed and uploaded by deleting them from the web folder, yes

Not that I'm aware of, although I might have forgotten that I changed it to cope!beteljuice wrote:I thought it used to 'fold' if a 'standard' template were not available ?

Re: Merging today/yesterday and this month/year webpages
I decided in the end to leave the standard files as they are and still upload the surplus yesterday page but remove the link to this unrequired page as the today and yesterday is now on the today page and I will leave the extra files for pages that are not part of the standard pages. I just got to do the same with this month and year some other day.

Re: Merging today/yesterday and this month/year webpages
arrrg, I was awaiting a download link.... Well, did the job and started good old Notepad.exe
todayT.htm = merged today and yesterday
thismonthT.htm = merged month and year
didn't change the links for the pages; if you apply this mod, you'll anyway have to change them in all template files...
enjoy!

Re: Merging today/yesterday and this month/year webpages
I done this a few days ago, and it is easy to do. I like to take longer and do this properly by changing the link to reflect the changes
eg today becomes today/yesterday
yesterday link removed
this month becomes this month/year
this year link removed
I use Notepad++ so I copy and paste the link code onto all pages very easily
I didn't know you were waiting but its not hard.

Re: Merging today/yesterday and this month/year webpages
To help keep me off the streets I've been updating my website and found this thread about merging Today and Yesterday pages that I have been thinking about for a while.
I used the file attachment in the thread and although it work quite well Page Link I would like to change the column spacings so columns 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 are closer together and 3 and 4 further apart.
How can I do this in a reasonably straight forward way?
