Real-time temperature graph appearance

Post by rstefani »

I was wondering why when I have Cumulus open for say 30 minutes, the outside and inside temperature graphs begin to look like seismographs rather than smooth lines from one time to the next. I know during that duration the temps do not fluctuate that much so as to give that earthquake-like appearance. I realize that the temps on the large graphs are sampled by the minute but I would'nt think that would be the cause. Is there any way to "smooth-out" the seismograph-like appearance?

Hi Steve,
Here is a link to the upload site...hope this helps.
PS- I opened Cumulus and have been running it continuously since approx. 11:00 am so that you can see the difference in the graph line appearance.

It's just plotting the current value once a minute, and each time the temperature changes, it plots the new value, so there's a change in the graph. As the resolution of the temperature sensor is 0.1 degrees, I'm not sure what else it could do?

The difference between the graphs from data before and after you started Cumulus is described in the FAQ; there are less data points before.

I guess what I'm asking Steve is if it is possible to change the large graph plotting frequency from one minute to, say 15 minutes for outside temp?

I think configurable plotting intervals are on the to-do list (i.e. there's an enhancement request for it).

Looking forward to that Steve!
