Upgraded BIOS and now station cannot be found

Well, that says it all, really. I upgraded my motherboard BIOS yesterday, and now when Cumulus starts up I get the message 'Fine Offset station not found. Check connections and restart Cumulus'. I've tried that (several times), tried resetting the station by removing batteries, but still no joy. I'm so glad I upgraded the BIOS!!! Everything else seems to be OK.
Has anyone any suggestions please? I've tried looking through the FAQ & wiki but can't find anything.
Thanks.

Are your USB ports enabled? Perhaps the BIOS upgrade caused them to be disabled?

Sorted.
I reverted to an older BIOS, and now everything is hunky. Must be an issue with the latest version.

How do you check bios compatibility?
Yesterday cumulus was working fine.
After a windows update (I'm using windows 8) the cumulus runs into the error that "fine offset station not found!..."
