Hi to all,
My first post, been here many times to the site in recent days and have purchased a PCE-FWS 20 Weatherstation from amazon which is really a Fine Offset 1080, (see link http://tinyurl.com/7ypmj8a)
All appeared to be working well until I started uploading to wunderground were I noticed a -3 dewpoint reading ???? I never even looked at dewpoint on my display , but when I did it showed up as -l75.4C
This appears to be the fault that bumpy had/has.
Anyone any ideas on this ?
Anyone came across this problem ?
Rang Amazon and they say to send everything back for a total refund and order another one.
I have ordered a new one and will return my original station when replacement arrives.
I might try new display with current setup first.
Thanks in advance for any help
Martin.

Hello
I have a rebadged Fine Offset 1080 - originally purchased in September 2010 - which has been recently replaced - November 2010 -by the retailer because the original consol appeared to develop a display fault whenever the Dew Point was lower than 0.0C. Immediately the Dew Point lowered to a minus figure the consol display showed -/76.1C or -/22.1F. The -/ character actually appear joined to form one character but I'm not clever enough to replicate this here! Curiously enough the replacement consol has today repeated the same error despite the fact that the whole system was replaced by the retailer. This was the first time since replacement that the Dew Point has reached minus C. levels.
Strangely enough the consol, despite displaying this erroneous figure, continues to send correct data i.e. Dew Points at minus levels to my computer which is then displayed by Cumulus. As I am still obtaining correct data via Cumulus for the minus Dew Points, I am relatively content but it would be good if the consol showed the same as Cumulus. It just seems as if the Dew Point display on the consol cannot cope with minus entries yet is able to send the correct figure to the computer. There are no problems with Dew Points above Freezing Point. All other consol readings are absolutely OK
It does seem odd that both the original system and its replacement are repeating the same 'error'. Has anyone else come across this problem with the Fine Offset 1080 and if so can it be resolved.
Tony

Re: New User Has Problem With Faulty Dewpoint Reading
Hi to all,
Update, just cancelled Amazon replacement. Reason for this is after looking at the wunderground interactive map there are other stations showing minus dewpoints in the UK ?
So not sure what to do, dewpoint reading in display is showing -l75.3C, which is wrong, Cumulus shows it as -1.5 ?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Martin.

Sound like is is just a display problem for negative values on the FO units, the correct value is being sent to Cumulus (and WU). The DP can go negative though it may seem counter-intuitive.

Hi Mark,
I agree, there is a display problem, but I'm not sure whether its worth the bother taking it all down again and sending it back. The replacement might also have the same problem ?
Martin.
