Email contact on website

What is the best way on my site to include a email contact as mentioned on my about page as the following:"hope that you find the information useful, your comments, thoughts and/or suggestions are welcome (to be added in the future)." Now that my site works, I want to do some work with it, I am slowly learning after making some changes to the pages and some webtags, but I am not a expert in this web stuff. That why I am asking for help. I have seen on a few sites a link you can click one and that takes you a window so that you can send a email. Advice regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

... I have seen on a few sites a link you can click one and that takes you a window ...
That suggests that they are using a mail 'form' which in turn uses script on their providers server. (Check your providers site help / scripts section)
That is the
safest way to go to stop any spam !
The
easiest way to do it is to create a mailto: link
Code: Select all
<a href="mailto:me@there.com">Mail Me</a>
This invokes whatever mail program the user has on their PC.
You can 'add' to the call. eg. to 'pre-fill' the subject line:
Code: Select all
<a href="mailto:me@there.com?subject=From%20Your%20Weather%20Site">Mail Me</a>
Note the use of %20 instead of spaces !
However; spambots could well pick up your mail name for nefarious purposes.
There are various code snippets on the web to 'hide' your mail address. This one is as good as any:

Simple cut 'n' paste stuff
If you do put ?subject=
Remember to delete it from the end of the html link (cosmetic)
Hint. If you do use the above site just make a copy of the page and then you have your own
encoder without going back to the site if you decide eg. to have different subject content for different pages / sites

Thanks beteljuice for your advice. I will check with my webspace provider to see if the script be OK. Sounds easy, so pop a little code in the webpage. Hiding the email address sounds like a good idea using the code snippet, so I look into that. Thanks very much, you have set me in the right direction.
