WU and WOW Catch Up

Post by aussiewmr »

Hi Steve,

Apologies if this is a repeated question. I did do a quick search and read help and Wiki.

My weather station logs a 1 minute intervals (for testing reasons currently) and Cumulus is also logging at 1 minute intervals. My update period to WOW and WU is 5 minutes.

Today the PC running cumulus threw a wobbly and when I restarted it about 5 hrs later Cumulus did the right thing and downloaded all the 1 minute data from the console.

However instead of updating WOW and WU during catch up at 5 minute intervals it updated at 1 minute intervals until the end of logged data and then it resumed 5 minute updates.

Is this intentional?

Also as a side note, I notice WOW gets updated every 5 minutes no problems, but with WU its pot luck whether its 5 minutes or 10 or on occasion 15. Is it a bad thing to update bothsites? Should I only use one?

Cheers

Yes, it attempts to upload every entry that it downloads from the logger. It's the only way it can really do it without the code becoming over complicated, as the logger interval and the WU/WOW update intervals are not related.

It's presumably unable to contact WU occasionally, or perhaps getting an error message back - WU may be overloaded at that time, for example.

There's no reason why you shouldn't update both WOW and WU if you want to.

I stopped my updates to WOW mainly because they really don't support the units I use for wind (km/h - they have meters/s). And even though I have meters/s selected the graphs update using my km/h values but display the units as mph :? :?:
Shame because the one nifty feature was the ability to compare your station graphs to others (ie overlay) which WU does not do. No loss because not many in Aussie embrace WOW.

Anyway I notice that the updates to WU are still doing the 10 sometimes 15 minute interval rather than every 5 so its certainly looking like the WU site musty be struggling at the odd time.

Cheers
