but the outside sensor seemed to have stopped working....as seems the norm from the reviews posted.

So am thinking of taking it back and getting an Oregon Scientific Wireless Weather Station (BAR206) instead: http://www.maplin.co.uk/oregon-scientif ... 206-526833

Has anyone had experience of the Oregon?

I had an Oregon about 5 years ago, and that let me down on the outside sensor....so was wondering if they had got any better.

I've had the identical Atech device for years, it's still going.
The range is pretty limited, and drops off as the transmitter battery fades, but it should last about 6 months. Check that it's still delivering 3v and reset the transmitter (yellow button) - the LED on the tower symbol should flash about once a minute. To re-establish comms on the indoor unit after a signal loss, force it by pressing the ADJ button momentarily.

I took it back to Maplins, and they replaced the sensor for me.

I'd tried resetting everything, and the red LED on the transmitter was on permanently.

On the Maplins site the reviews show that the sensor failing seems to be fairly common....will see how this unit goes

Does anyone think this is worth the money?

All that for £29.99. I would be wary of it being reliable especially with the range: Up to 50m open field

Once you put any obstacles in the path of the signal that range will drop dramatically.

It doesn't look a particularly good price because as far as I can see it has no rain gauge, no wind vane or speed and no computer connection or logger. I think I've seen similar for far less at Lidl, etc..

It rather depends exactly what measurements you want to make. I notice that the ranges are only down to 20% RH and -10 degrees C outside (we've been close to that in the last few days).

I did notice the limited temp range....but thought it was quite fully featured for the reduced price....certainly not the full price.

I've had a couple of Lidl weather stations before, but they havn't had indoor/outdoor humidity, but have been of a very similar price to this...but have also failed on the outdoor sensor
