Potential new user - quick q's

I have a vineyard of 9 acres at the moment, not a commercial venture yet as we have not taken any fruit. One day I might like to retire to this vineyard and make it a going concern.

However, we have spring frost problems at the lowest point of the vineyard and I need to install a weather station (probably a VP2) so that I can monitor a range of temperatures across the length of the vineyard. I was intending to use Cumulus to do this.

I am looking at situating the iss in the middle of the vineyard for wind, uv, temp et al and also a couple of remote wireless temp sensors at the extremities ( ie top and bottom) so I get an idea of how the frost moves down the slope and how, if at all, the heat we put in removes the frost and heats the vineyard - and to what extent.

Now I understand that multiple sensors are not catered for in Cumulus, so how do we get the three temp readings across the length of the slope? Is this doable at all? From what I've read here it isn't (but maybe one day?) This means I cannot use Cumulus for this? Is that correct?

Regards

c

Yes, Cumulus currently has no support at all for VP2 extra sensors. Maybe one day...

Thanks for the quick reply Steve.

So I'm stuck with the weatherlink thing then.

Bugger !

Hang on...is there anyway to specify which sensor is added to Cumulus?

I'd need to be monitoring the lowest point of the vineyard - this would be a wireless temp sensor (not the iss though I could rearrange to suit ) ? Does that change anything?

Just thought I'd ask...

Unfortunately, not too many software are available to monitor a weather station with additional sensors...

Looking at the Davis Instruments pages (Vantage Pro2 Plus weather station), I think (not absolutely sure) the WeatherLink software (included with the different data loggers) with the addition of the Agricultural/Turf Management Module might be what you will need...

Ray

Thanks for the input. I think if I was irrigating or taking leaf moisture values, soil temp and all the other things that offers it would be straight up my street, and it might well be in the near future.

My main concern at the moment is the temps (read frost) we are getting in bloody May that knackers my young shoots, so temp is the only thing that really matters for now.

Cumulus can only read the temperature from the sensor on the transmitter which identifies itself as the ISS.

It's not a huge amount of work to read the extra sensors (and log the data); it's just that I have hundreds (literally) of other enhancements 'on the list', and currently little enthusiasm or time for any of them, unfortunately.

I imagine Weather Display will do what you want, if you don't want to use Weatherlink.
