Sending Data to 2 web servers
This is probably a crazy question but would it be possible to send data from Cumulus to 2 different web servers and run 2 php websites while using the Saratoga Templates?? eg server A is hosting waterfordcityweather.com while server B hosts waterfordweather.com
Cheers
Mike

Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
Cumulus only supports uploading web pages to one ftp server. But you could use a 'batch' file run as an external command to ftp the files to another server, as described here: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/SFTP. WinSCP does 'normal' FTP as well as SFTP.

Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
You should be able to ftp to your 'prime' site and the 'source' the wxCUdata for the 'secondary' from the 'prime'.

Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
Are the two site on different hosting servers or are they both on the same hosting server but under different directories or sub-directories?

Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
As well as the main data file for the 'base' pages, there are other reports / files which may be required for extended information. Whilst do-able by scripting it would beter to find a dual ftp solution.
The example you quote suggests the same (mirrored) site ?

Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
Yes basically the address for my php site now is www.waterfordcityweather.com/index.php which is long so i decided to purchase www.waterfordweather.com which is shorter and might get improved search results in google. I want to keep the non php website www.waterfordcityweather.com as is because its a more basic site and the base template is from Cumulus but i have modified the page.beteljuice wrote:As well as the main data file for the 'base' pages, there are other reports / files which may be required for extended information. Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
If you wish identical content on the two sites - ftp to one site (A) and then on the alternate site (B) do a redirect to the first site. No one will ever notice!
On site B use an html page named index.htm containing:
<body>
<script>
location = "http://www.site A";
</script>
</body>
That is all you need.

Sounds simple enough to do. Will give it a try later.
Edit: That did the trick. Anyone now who goes to www.watefordweather.com gets the mirrored website

Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
I may be missing something, but couldn't you just alter your DNS entries so that both domain names point to the same server?

Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
Indeed, my thoughts exactly - I have been doing that with about a dozen of registered domain names...mcrossley wrote:I may be missing something, but couldn't you just alter your DNS entries so that both domain names point to the same server?

Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
If they are on different hosts, that may not be possible. Most Registrar DNS setups allow you to do this at the DNS level with forwarding there though.mcrossley wrote:I may be missing something, but couldn't you just alter your DNS entries so that both domain names point to the same server?

Re: Sending Data to 2 web servers
