I've had some comm problems since installing a N96GY after Xmas. The console is connected to a Samsung netbook running Windows XP and uploads wirelessly to the Netgear router and every 5 minutes to WOW. I've sorted out persistent loss of wireless connection by changing the router channel selection from auto to a specified channel. On numerous occasions I've quit Cumulus whenever the error light came on and immediately opened up Cumulus, which got rid of the error light, only to find it coming on again some hours later. Recently I've twigged that uploads to WOW have continued every 5 minutes inspite of the error light! Please can someone tell me how to disable the error light, or advise why it keeps lighting up when everything seems to be running OK?
Lester.

Re: Error light /upload to WOW
What errors are displayed when you click on the error light? They are not necessarily related to the WOW uploads. If you don't have any errors displayed there currently, most of them are repeated in the diags files (the files in the Cumulus Diags folder).

Re: Error light /upload to WOW
Steve,
Error light not on at present - didn't know you could hover over it/click on it and get more info.
Looked at contents of Diag Folder - files are all very recent - oldest 23/1/12 and I don't think I've bothered to restart Cumulus following the error light coming on in this last few days. What sort of thing should I be looking for, when reading the diagnosis files for error messages? By the way I used Word to open these files. I would have thought that if the error was critical then incomplete or no data would be uploaded to WOW, but all seems complete. There is a phrase about data logger use not set, followed by a phrase program running normally, which seems to imply that not setting up the data logger isn't the source of the error message??

It's probably best if you zip up the entire diags folder and attach it and I'll take a look.

Re: Error light /upload to WOW
You've turned off use of the station's data logger ("use data logger" in the station settings)
26/01/2012 14:01:56.718 : UseDataLogger not set, switch to normal running
This means that if you have Cumulus stopped for any length of time, you'll get gaps in your data.
The flashing error light is warning you when the console is saying that it has lost contact with the outside sensors:
24/01/2012 17:50:13.828 : Lost sensor contact!!!
This is a common problem with Fine Offset stations, see lots of other users in the forum with the same issue, and some suggestions for improving communication between the sensor and the console.

Re: Error light /upload to WOW
Steve,
Thanks for identifying those problems - I did click on the error light when it came on again and realised loss of contact with a sensor was the source. Is there anyway we can identify which sensor? It is very infrequent now and doesn't seem to be critical.
I've switched on the datalogger function as I was concerned about lack of catchup data to WOW.
Thanks again.

Re: Error light /upload to WOW
The 'lost sensor contact' notification isn't specific. I imagine it gets set when the console isn't getting a signal from the transmitter, rather than it being a problem with one of the remote sensors.
