Data Not Reading on Transfer to New Computer (Pic)

Post by Cambium »

I backed up old files (left image)
I installed latest Cumulus(middle image)
I transferred data files into new data folder (right image)

When opening the Cumulus it doesnt read the data. I read about the ini file but didnt know where to find that and didnt want to ruin anything else. Anyone know why the data is not reading?

Thanks.

When you say it doesn't read the data, what do you mean? It's not reading data from the station, or it's not using the data that you've transferred? I assume you mean the latter, and what you've done looks correct.

Does your new PC have exactly the same settings for date and time etc as the old one? If you zip up the Diags folder and attach it, I may be able to see what the problem is.

Not reading current data from console or rainfall amounts. It does pick up all other records apparently.

You have the station type set to 'using easyweather.dat' instead of Fine Offset:

1/22/2012 15:34:42.680 : Station type: EasyWeather

You're also missing the dayfile.txt file from the data folder:

1/22/2012 15:34:43.614 : Init monthly charts unable to find dayfile.txt: C:\Cumulus\data\dayfile.txt

My heart just dropped. This is not good. My backup nor the new downloaded version has that file.

Its picking up "all time records"
its picking up "this months records"
Its picking up "this years records"
Its picking up all the "highs and lows"

Its not reading "this month", "this year", "this period"

Lord help me how do I get that day file now. Everything was restored to factory settings on old computer .

Not sure how (cause Im not a computer tech savy) but I found the dayfile in a backup file Cumulus created automatically. Luckily I transferred the whole Cumulus folder that it was still there.

I Spent hours wondering and hair pulling but this makes the Giant game 1000x better tonight.

Thanks Steve for your help as usual and patience. Hopefully this thread helps others in the future.
