Has anyone tried using these blue tooth dongle add ins to link the base unit to the PC? Just thinking of trying to get rid of a couple of wires in the back of my PC. i was thnking of one in the unit and one in the PC (its an old one). Evidently they dont need any software to run.

Re: Bluetooth Dongle
The base unit will not supply any power to the USB port as it is a client device rather than a master device. So you have to arrange a 5V power feed to even power the remote unit up.

Re: Bluetooth Dongle
Hi Ian.
Just wondered where abouts in Runcorn u are? Used to work in Weston Point.
Mark is correct. The base unit supplies no power so the dongle wont work.
I use a bluetooth dongle on my laptop for amateur radio and Skype as a microphone feed and earpiece
It works really well too

Phil
The station is near Norman Road/ Greenway rd, so not far from Weston Point. Presume you were an ICI man then? How long ago was that?
Pity about the dongle idea, would have really neatened things up!

Know ur area well. You will have problems with accurate wind and temp as I have here due to urban location but great fun anyway.
Good luck with the system. Call if u need help as the forum is excellent, as is Steve.
