Another bit where I put my Videos is on YouTube and then embed them into my website.
(which is why I would like a faster upload)
I'm pushing up about 400mb Daily Time Lapses at the moment, which is why the need for a better upload. If Sky pulled their finger out again gave us FTTC I would be on that, but I can't be bothered to change to BT Infinity yet. Although I have been saying I won't just to that since it came available last year in my area, but it getting more and more tempting.
I presume this way as they are hosted somewhere else it's also not using any of my bandwidth up??
http://www.cm2weather.co.uk/test.htm
Again testing this bit out at the moment, but the video's are slightly higher quality than the one's on the WU (below the WebCam bit)
Yes I've currently using a 12m USB Cable, did try a USB Gigabit Hub (4 USB Ports on a Network Cable) but that didn't work very well with the Camera or the weather station. So that went back to a long usb cable.
If money permits a IP Camera might find it's way to the collection, but that won't be for sometime yet.

The BT Infinity service is very good. If Sky can't match it then you may be able to negotiate a price reduction by thretening to leave. You must have a good deal to shift that much data. 400Mb * 31 days = 1.2Gb monthly!SJG1976 wrote:Another bit where I put my Videos is on YouTube and then embed them into my website.

No. Only data that is uploaded or downloaded to your website is counted.I presume this way as they are hosted somewhere else it's also not using any of my bandwidth up??
You can probably drop the window to 320*240 and take a shot every 5 minutes and not notice much difference in quality.Again testing this bit out at the moment, but the video's are slightly higher quality than the one's on the WU (below the WebCam bit)
I'm still chewing the options over and awaiting a reply to the questions I asked the retailer on Sunday. If money permits a IP Camera might find it's way to the collection, but that won't be for sometime yet.

Re: MICROSOFT Lifecam Studio (Any Good)
Thanks Ray,
Still playing about at the moment.
Just made a few minor changes to the WebSite now, and Organised some of the names and titles a bit better.
Will consider dropping the framerate a bit over the weekend, as currently I'm snapping a shot every 30seconds.
Then stringing them all together at 15fps.
But I do like watching them back....
I have now ordered a Dummy CCTV Mount, but not sure if it will be any good or not.
But then where would be the fun if you didn't have to use a bit of lateral thinking!!
Have just spent the last couple of hours changing the gauges-ss.htm pages, and finaly got them working again (I hope anyway!! )
I'm hoping we get some of this promised snow down here next week, see how things do then!

Re: MICROSOFT Lifecam Studio (Any Good)
Got a Dummy CCTV mount yesterday, but it's not really idea as its far from watertight.
Doesn't look too bad, and a bit of modding Removing the battery compartment, fake lense, flashing led and fake ir bulbs, I've now manage to squeeze the camera in.
Think I'll need to weatherproof it a bit more and get some sealant, and hope to have it mounted by the weekend (weather permitting) meant to be getting the white stuff falling this weekend
and I don't fancy being outside up a ladder drilling holes!
Will post some more pictures when it's installed, and hopefully have an outside weathercam.
If not back to the drawing board!!!

Re: MICROSOFT Lifecam Studio (Any Good)
Webcam now Moved to the new location.
And housed in the Dummy CCTV Mount.
Will post pictures up later when I can get the files off a Memory Stick.
He's a view from the Camera. Just need to do a few final Mods, and then replaced with an IP Camera when I still don't like it....
I'm now experimenting with how many FPS to use for the timelapse videos.
So far I seem to like 30fps best, I'm have been snapping a frame between 30seconds and 20seconds, now trying 10seconds.
But the files are going to be about 1Gb now!!

Re: MICROSOFT Lifecam Studio (Any Good)
Still playing about with the Framerates, and how many pics to take and wat frequency.
Latest Video is now
1280 x 720 every 10seconds at 25fps.
http://www.cm2weather.co.uk/timelapse.htm (is the HD Weather Time Lapse Video Chelmsford Essex 15th Feb)
Still don't know how to get a better menu system for the Day Timelapses!!
The one before was filmed at 1920 x 1080 but I think that was a bit too excessive!!
Any comments are welcomed!!
Especially about getting a better way to index the daily timelapses.
