Fine Offset WH1081 Rain Gauge Question!

First off I would like to say thanks for such an interesting and helpful forum.

Yesterday I ordered one of Weather Stations from Maplin (Fine Offset WH1081), which was delivered this afternoon. But having read through the customer reviews I see that it is recommended that you use a piece of gauze to prevent insects from entering the Rain Gauge.

So after looking on Amazon, I was let with these two very simple questions:

1) What type of gauze should be used?

2) Where can it be bought from?

Any help would be appreciated, from this newbie!

Thanks again.,

Hi,
I used some spare gauze that is used in dress making.
I think it is used as an underskirt to strengthen the outer fabric...

I folded it around the rain gauge like wrapping a present and stuck it to itself using some hot glue from a hot glue gun.

Mine is still going strong after a couple of years of service.

Firstly many thanks for the prompt reply.

Secondly my apologies for the terrible splleings and grammar in my OP!

Anyway following the advice I went to my local fabric/dressmaking shop and bought some dress making gauze/mesh, I chose quite a fine weave nylon mesh, bought half a metre length (x about 4ft 6" roll width) so way, way more than needed but it was only 50p.

Then had a wander round the shops and found a Bostic Hot Melt Glue Gun in Wilkinson for about £6.

So all being well I hope to set up my weather station in the next couple of days, weather permitting that is!

Thanks again for the help and advice much appreciated.
