Cumulus stops reading my WS2080

Post by Anderski »

You all were so helpful getting my WS to upload to Wunderground.com after the holidays! :P

Now we seem to run into a problem of Cumulus not displaying information. We have closed and re-opened Cumulus several times but it won't show current data at all with the exception of the trend box, which shows -.3 degree F/hr. I have taken the USB cable out of the WS and will get an error on Cumulus saying "1/13/2012 1:58:42 PM : Error - station unplugged - check connections and restart Cumulus" so I know Cumulus can "see" the WS.

Any ideas? I had it working for a brief moment and it uploaded the info to Wunderground.com and then it zero'd out again. :x

Thank you so much for your help!

Have you tried resetting the station (remove USB and batteries, with Cumulus not running)? Sometimes Fine Offset stations just seem to 'stop talking'. If a reset doesn't help, please zip up the diags folder and attach it.

Thanks Steve, it did seem to get it back reading, but I am hoping to not have to do this often, as it is kind of annoying to have to re-enter time/date etc repeatedly. Is there by chance anything I have missed in the settings?

I don't think so. It just seems to be an aspect of Fine Offset stations that a number of owners experience.

My WH1081 stopped downloading for no reason today.

For a few days before Cumulus kept saying "Lost Sensor Contact" so was this a warning of things to come I wonder?

All the batteries are new so its not them, maybe the low temps cause a problem?

I stopped Cumulus and disconnected the unit then removed the battery and all is back to normal, seems to be a three week thing as I notice others seem to have the ame issue about that time also

Its probably a firmware error in the unit or the memory in the unit get messed up, who knows?

Cant see away to sort it other than remove the battery each time, thats a pain if you are away and it locks up.

Guess a Davis does not have this problem so maybe thats the way to go in the future.

Time to start saving me thinks.

Could be. What logger interval are you using (in the station)?

No, I mean the station. You can only change that interval using Easyweather. I think the default is 30 minutes; it might be interesting to see what effect - if any - changing the interval has on the three week issue.
