Cumulus Support

MADIS is reporting my Barometer could be possible broken along with the Dew point sensor needs calibration. I've adjusted my Barometer up in calibration which I'm not really comfortable with. I tried to contact Fine Offset with no reply. Do I worry about MADIS or just take the calibration out and run it as is or replace the main unit? Thank you.

P.S. Does Fine Offset have a valid support email or contact. Please post!!!

For your barometer, you need to set the 'relative pressure' on your console so that it shows the correct sea-level pressure, rather than using the calibration settings in Cumulus. Once you've set the console, you need to restart Cumulus so that it picks up the new setting.

They seem happy with your temperature reading, so the dew point issue must be humidity. Fine Offset stations seem to be quite poor in that department. You could try a calibration setting in Cumulus, if you can work out a suitable value. My Fine Offset sometime reads low (compared to my Davis) and sometimes high, so finding a calibration setting is problematic!

I will double check Steve but I believe it is on Relative. Is so, any ideas? Thanks for the reply.

No, sorry. I emailed them a few times a long time ago but never got a reply. Someone on the forum seems to be in conversation with them, though (aussiewmr?).

I have the same system and my dewpoint readings are off as well, I've learned to live with it! Close enough in my book.

Now a OT question.. How far is your anemometer from the temp sensor? (saw your pics) and what did you run for cable to extend it?
Just curious, that's like what I want to do with mine this spring, mount it on the eve of the house, would put it about 35 ft up or so.

I just went to the Fine Offset site (http://foshk.com/contact/) and used the Contact Us link (sales@foshk.com) then sent a detailed report. I soon received a reply.

Thanks, Phil, but all I was asking for from them was information about the protocol the station uses, and I now have the information I needed from elsewhere.

I used CAT5 cable I bought from Home Depot/Menards and a RJ12 6-pin Modular Straight-Through Inline Coupler
to connect the Wind Speed/Direction unit.

Well maybe not all of them, mine seems to be OK. Here is a comparison graph for the last month against Ray's Davis Pro a few miles away...
